SXSW Squirrel #brandmascots

SXSW All Grown-up: Brand Mascots in the Digital Age. IQ Agency

Thanks to all who attended our SXSW core conversation: All Grown-up: Brand Mascots in the Digital Age (an IQ + Sapient joint featuring Emily Reid and Derek Fridman). We had a packed house, great insight shared by the audience, and of course, some wacko in a squirrel fuzzy suit. Look for a more complete rundown on the session from Emily later. For now, have a look at some photos from our event after the jump.

Pennington Birds: Behind the Scenes

It’s pretty unbelievable how much work goes into thirty seconds of advertising. From concept to screen there are hundreds of steps along the way. Some of us spent a large part of our summer working on a campaign featuring a spot for the Pennington Wild Bird Band. Remember Myspace?

I hadn’t though about Myspace in a very long time. And with good reason — it’s been some time since they’ve been relevant. The one-time social network king has long since lost it’s crown to Facebook. But with it’s new mission and redesign, Myspace has finally thrown in the towel altogether — focusing instead on the Gen Y Audience as a social entertainment hub. What once was a “place for friends” is now a place for music, movies, celebrities, and all things entertainment. As MySpace was incrementally rolling out it’s redesign, I was asked to join Claudia Chow of Huge, and Jacob Ford of Attik for OMMA Magazine’s December Creative Roundtable. Here’s our 2 cents on the new Myspace.

IQ Motion ID Tests

Hands down the most fun we’ve had with the IQ rebrand this year —  the motion ID. Here are some motion tests the team has been working on. Big nod to Stefan, Boutte & Edwards on these. Make sure your speakers are up because the sound really makes a big difference. So which one is your favorite?

Tinkering with Microsoft TAG codes

Earlier this year, we took some time to tinker with with QR codes — specifically Microsoft TAG. As part of a recruiting effort, we designed a pocketbook journal with a TAG code that led to a mobile site targeted to young creatives just entering the field. You can view the mobile site on your phone at http://www.iqagency.com/tag/

These mini books were given away at SCAD career fair, Portfolio Center, Creative Circus and the like.

BTW I still have some left over if anyone wants some free schwag…
